My role and business objective

The business objective for Cardiovascular Advisor is to provide a solution to aid clinicians in the workflow for the Trans Aortic Valve Replacement procedure. My role is to research the procedure and conduct interviews with the sponsor users in order to understand the workflow and find opportunities for cognitive computing to aid the process.

The key users and how they were identified

Rush Medical Center and the University of Nebraska Medical Center were contracted as our sponsor users for CA. In learning the existing workflow for TAVR, we identified the Interventional Cardiologist, the Cardiothoracic Surgeon and the Clinical Coordinator as our key personas.

The actions I took

For each persona, I created a profile that demonstrates the goals, tasks, environment, questions, challenges, tools, collaborators and information that is pertinent to the specific role. Through the research and sponsor user interviews, I created a journey map of the entire TAVR workflow. At each step it asks, "Which personas are involved in this step?, Where do the persona tasks overlap?, Are there opportunities for Watson to employ AI in this step? If so, how?"

What artifacts I created and the key principles I applied

Persona profiles like the one shown were created for each key persona. The journey map was written and illustrated in a clean, easily consumable layout. These two artifacts are stored in a Keynote that will later be used to shape the Playback 0.
