Watson Health Design System
HOMEPAGE DESIGN
Watson Health Design System homepage
During my tenure in Watson Health, I was part of three teams, Watson Health Solutions, Imaging, and Payer and Provider. While acting as a member of these teams, I also remained very active in the UX and Visual Design Guild that serves Watson Health Design as a whole. Fortunately, during that time, I was asked to contribute the homepage design to our pattern and component library, or Design System.
It was a fun and rewarding project that had a short runway. Even with the tight deadline, I had to pass through several reviews from the core team. With the guidance of the core team, I created several iterations. In the end I came up with a solution that is user friendly, compatible with our branding guidelines, responsive and visually accessible.
Pattern contribution. Patient timeline
One component to Oncology Expert Advisor and several of our other healthcare apps is a patient timeline. Getting a holistic view of the patient’s journey was very important for the physicians. For oncologists, it helps them view genetic information and lab results as they occur with other significant events in the patient’s treatment.
To contribute a complex pattern such as a patient timeline to the Watson Health Design System, it was important to understand all of the associated user stories. Pulling from my experience with the oncologists at MD Anderson, I was able to map each function of the Timeline back to the user need.
